A clear alternative to metal braces
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are a clear alternative to metal braces using clear tooth coloured brackets. The advantage of these brackets are that they are less noticeable, which means you can smile with confidence. Ceramic brackets are a great choice for both adults and children.
They are created using state of the art technology and are completely customised to the shape of your teeth and to your dental situation. The advantages of Incognito™ braces are numerous. They not only offer discreet treatment but boost confidence during wear and patients can attend special occasions and events in the knowledge that they look good and their oral health is being improved.
Incognito Braces can be used to treat severe malocclusion disorders and are ideal for persons who may be at risk of metallic allergy. Treatment time ranges from nine to fifteen months and people of different ages and backgrounds may be treated with the Incognito™ system.
How They Work
The wires that are used to bring the teeth into the desired position can also be tooth coloured but as treatment progresses stronger metal wires will be needed.
Ceramic brackets are a cost effective alternative to Incognito® and Invisalign® as there are no laboratory fees involved. Simple alignment of the front teeth can change your smile in six months.

The Process of Fitting Ceramic Braces
A suction tube is used throughout the whole of the process to avoid any moisture getting onto the front surfaces of the teeth.
After the teeth have been cleaned and dried each block is glued individually on the teeth. Once this has been done a thin wire is threaded through each block and held in place by a small clear elastic.
The thickness of the wire slowly progresses throughout the treatment as the teeth move into the perfect arch position.
Once the Brace is Fitted
At the end of the treatment we will fit you with a retainer. This is an invisible, removable appliance which helps to keep your teeth in their new position. Sometimes we will fit you with a fixed retainer, further information about this will be given to you closer to the time.

How Do I Look After my Ceramic Brace?
What if I Break My Brace?
These are usually the only breakages that can happen, sometimes you might find that the wire is digging into your cheek at the back of the brace, if this is the case contact the practice and we will arrange to see you, in the meantime you can use some wax over the end of the wire to protect your cheek. You will be provided with wax when you brace is fitted.
